About Epsom Electrician
We are registered electricians who have been doing electrical work across Auckland since 2009, for households and for businesses. Epsom Electrician is the name we work under in Epsom and the suburbs on its edges, Mount Eden, Newmarket, Greenlane, One Tree Hill, Three Kings and Royal Oak, travelling from our Auckland base. We are New Zealand owned and operated, and when prescribed electrical work is finished it is tested and you receive the certificate that goes with it. Start with rewiring an older Epsom house, or read on.

Why Epsom homes call us
Epsom's houses carry a lot of history. Auckland Council's Albert-Eden Heritage Survey describes it as known for its large period houses from the 1890s to the 1930s, set in generous, well-planted grounds on tree-lined streets: grand Victorian and Edwardian homes near Mountain Road, then bungalows, Arts and Crafts and English Cottage styles until the last vacant sections were built on in the 1920s.
A house that old has usually had its electrics changed again and again, by different people at different times, so very little of it belongs to one era. The useful first step is to find out what is really behind the walls and in the switchboard, and then decide what is worth keeping, what should be replaced and in what order.

Is Epsom Electrician based in Epsom?
No. We work from an Auckland base and serve Epsom and the suburbs around it, including Mount Eden, Newmarket, Greenlane, One Tree Hill, Three Kings and Royal Oak. Our electricians work right across Auckland, so if your address is a little further out, call and ask.
Can an electrician come out at night or at the weekend?
Yes. Our electricians take call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, nights and weekends included. Call 021 156 4005 and tell us what has happened. Our 24/7 emergency electrician page covers what to check while you wait.
Do you work for shops and offices as well as houses?
Yes, we do commercial as well as residential work. Manukau Road has been Epsom's main commercial street since its shopping centres grew up at Greenwoods Corner, Greenlane Road and Ranfurly Road, and a shop or office there can call us for a fault, new lighting, security cameras or a switchboard just as a house can.
What paperwork should I get after electrical work?
For fixed wiring work, such as a new circuit, a new power point or a rewire, you should receive a Certificate of Compliance. Some work, particularly on the main switchboard, the mains cable or the main earth, must also be inspected by a licensed electrical inspector, which we arrange for you. Keep every certificate with your property records, because insurers and buyers may ask for them.
What should I have ready when I phone?
The address, what is happening or what you would like done, and the age of the house if you know it. With an older Epsom home, a photo of the switchboard (with the meter box door open, if you can get to it safely) shows a lot about the wiring before anyone visits. You can also send all of that through our contact page.
